Sonera Zed chief marketing officer Ruth Blakemore has left the
Finnish mobile internet portal after 18 months in the job. She is not
thought to have a job to go to.
Blakemore joined Sonera in April 2000, a fortnight after quitting her
role as commercial director at Bradford & Bingley. Prior to her spell at
the bank, Blakemore spent four months as marketing director at Cable &
Wireless. She has also been marketing chief for Virgin Atlantic.
Her departure from Sonera follows that of Paul Troy, its brand marketing
chief, who left to take the top marketing job at Royal Mail earlier this
year. Blakemore's responsibilities have been taken on by chief
commercial officer Pekka Somerto.
Sonera Zed offers a range of information, multimedia content and
shopping facilities via mobile phones.
A Sonera spokeswoman confirmed Blakemore's departure, but refused to say
whether a direct replacement would be sought.
Blakemore could not be contacted, and was understood to be abroad, as
Marketing went to press.
