Gaviscon kicks off ad campaign on Dec 3rd

Reckitt Benckiser-owned Gaviscon kicks off an ad campaign on

December 3 through McCann Healthcare Manchester, aimed at repositioning

it as an everyday product and broadening its appeal with a younger

audience. The ad features a firebreather suffering from heartburn who

takes a Gaviscon tablet. He finds the remedy so effective that he can no

longer breathe fire and, with his newly found good health, he entertains

the crowd by juggling his Gaviscon tablets instead. The ad marks the

first time the tablets have been promoted on TV. In the past, ads have

focused on the liquid form of the medicine. Running until February next

year, the campaign is being backed by a £3m spend. Media is

handled by OMD.
