DaimlerChrysler has promoted Mercedes-Benz Direct marketing
director Alistair Welham to marketing director for DaimlerChrysler
Welham's previous brief included the Mercedes-Benz used car dealerships,
but his expanded remit includes dealership marketing for both new and
used cars bearing the Mercedes-Benz marque as well as the company's new
Smart dealer network.
He reports to DaimlerChrysler Retail managing director Geoff Brady and
will supervise the Retail division's agency roster.
Welham said he will hold a pitch for Smart's retail advertising and is
examining agency relationships throughout the department. Smart does not
currently have an assigned creative agency but is being covered by MBA,
while McCann's handles creative for both new and used Mercedes-Benz
Media is handled by BJK&E.
Welham joined Mercedes-Benz last year, when Lex Autosales, where he was
marketing director, was acquired by the car brand for the launch of
