The new channel will have the strapline ‘One amazing world. One amazing channel' and will target upmarket couples in their 30s and 40s with children who want to have their minds and imaginations stretched.
Eden will launch with Superstorm, Ganges, Wild China, Tribe (series 3), Elephant Diaries (series 2), and Tribal Wives, alongside Planet Earth, Ray Mears' Extreme Survival, Life of Mammals and Full Circle with Michael Palin. A complementary website www.exploreeden.co.uk will also launch on the same day.
Eden is the first new factual rebrand, to be followed by Blighty and Yesterday.
UKTV will begin marketing Eden to consumers from 26 December with a 60 second launch promo that will play across its portfolio of 10 channels.
UKTV has already launched a new channel - Watch - and rebranded its entertainment portfolio of channels.
