Clinton Cards had thousands of responses to its competition to find
the UK's real-life version of Homer Simpson.
The card retailer, in association with 20th Century Fox Licensing and
Merchandising, began the promotion on Father's Day in June, and invited
children across the country to nominate their fathers, with entries
supported by suitably embarrassing photographs.
The campaign, which ran across all the chain's 692 outlets nationwide,
saw Paul Kelly, nominated by his daughter Bernadette, winning the top
prize, on the basis that he 'has a belly full of beer and heart full of

UK equivalent of the portly father figure in the US's most dysfunctional
TV family, will be dispelled by his prize which will see him take his
family to the Simpsons Global FanFest in Hollywood.
