Newcastle Brown Ale to relocate

LONDON - Newcastle Brown Ale has announced plans to leave the city of Newcastle after 82 years.

The brewer will move to the John Smith's Brewery in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

Scottish & Newcastle blamed the economic downturn and said it would attempt to seek alternative employment for its workers. In total 63 workers will be affected.

Newcastle Brown Ale's current base, the Dunstan Brewery, was bought by S&N in 2004.
