The app will be available to buy on iTunes. Among other images, it features a Kings of Leon gallery of 20 captioned backstage images taken by NME on exclusive shoots and at festivals.
Users will be able to download the pictures to use as mobile wallpapers and replicate on Facebook.
The NME is aiming to compile the most extensive music photography collection availabe for mobile phones. The app costs 59p and was developed by Umee using their unique Umee Mobile for iPhone platform.
The magazine launched a radio app earlier this year. It features an immediate purchase and download facility of music played on the station. It has reached number two in the UK iTunes paid for music app chart.
