The Echos are the centerpiece event for the DMA US's annual convention, which was held this week. The Diamond Echo represents the most outstanding, ‘best of show' campaign in the awards.
The Best Job in The World campaign also stormed the Cannes Lions Advertising Awards earlier this year, winning the PR Grand Prix and the direct marketing Grand Prix.
The DMA USA award comes as the Best Job in the World campaign winner, UK-born Ben Southall, is due to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show on 28 October.
Southall, who has filmed the Oprah interview from his Hamilton Island base, is the honorary caretaker for the Great Barrier Reef. He was appointed after the multi-channel campaign tgenerated responses from thousands of participants, each of whom applied for the position as a virtual ambassador to Brisbane.
The campaign, created by ComminsNitro Brisbane, of South Brisbane, Australia, involved a vote-for-the-correspondent-of-your-choice element brought the region's qualities to the attention of hundreds of thousands of potential visitors and generated an estimated £500m of free publicity.
The DMA presented 85 Echo Awards to multichannel direct marketing campaigns from all over the world.
