The Asda Direct service allows consumers to order products online and then collect them in store. The trail in Keighley began in July. The decision to expand the service increases competition between the likes of Argos and also the Tesco Direct service.
The news comes as Asda today announces a like-for-like sales increase of 5.6% (excluding fuel) for the quarter ending 30 September. The supermarket also increased market share form 16.9% to 17.3% (TNS).
Asda said that part of the reason for growth was the ‘growing importance of spending Saturday nights in with all the family...which has led to an increase in the popularity of takeaway foods from its in-store counters.'
