Chris Lawson: appointment at Guardian News & Media

LONDON - Guardian News & Media (GN&M), the publisher of The Guardian, has appointed Chris Lawson, the former brand director for Absolute radio, to the new role of content sales and marketing director.

Lawson will have responsibility for The Guardian and The Observer newspaper brands, driving newspaper sales and developing digital audiences.

Lawson's previous roles include digital marketing director at Bauer across its lifestyle and specialist brands.

Richard Furnesss, head of newspaper sales & marketing and Steve Wing, head of mobile and digital attraction, will report directly to Lawson.

Adam Freeman, director of consumer media at GN&M, appointed Lawson, who takes up a position on the consumer management board.

He joins Andre McGarrigle, customers insight director, Kate Morgan-Locke, consumer offers and services director and Chris Pelekanou, advertisement sales director.

The marketing duties at GN&M were previously carried out by Marc Sands, who in March this year left to join the Tate gallery, as part of a wider restructure at GN&M.
