Frank Lampard launches own mobile TV channel

frank tv, which launches today, will be available on Orange customers on their handsets through the Orange TV platform.

The first instalment on the channel will be a 50-minute programme filmed by the midfielder on his 3G mobile phone over the past year. The programme will be in the form of a video showing Lampard at home, with team-mates and at training.

Bloody hell. He's hardly the most interesting man in sport.

Andrew Payne - 10 August 2007

Sweet lord. Even as a Chelsea fan, there is no way I'd want to watch that! Great footballer. Very dull.

Oliver Morgan - 10 August 2007

What a cock

"The first instalment on the channel will be a 50-minute programme filmed by the midfielder on his 3G mobile phone over the past year." Not really a TV channel then - more like a promotional film.

Ed Kemp

Ed Kemp - 10 August 2007

That's just the first instalment though. He's going to be adding footage from his phone throughout the season.

Phil Burgess - 10 August 2007

Reminds me of that bit in Jurassic Park when Jeff Goldblum talks the fact that everyone gets carried away with the idea that something COULD be done, but no one stops to ask if it SHOULD be done.

Personally, I can't wait

How overrated is Frank - lamp it over the cross bar - Lampard? He hasn't even agreed a new deal, clearly even Chelsea realise that he is not woth the ridiculous amount of cash his agent is asking for. He is hardly a Gerrard.

No, Lamps could never win back to back Premiership titles, back to back England player of the year and runner up in the FIFA world player of the year...?!?!

That's as maybe Eddie but still doesn't necessarily make for gripping viewing on a tiny mobile phone screen

I hear Pukka Pies are being mooted as a solus sponsor!

I heard that too. they were looking for a new sporting figure since the contracts were torn up with the fat spanish waiter manager because they didnt meet his pie needs

Benitez, i think this shows good ingenuity from Chelsea and no matter who would have done this; Rooney, Beckham, Gerrard, there would obviously be critics. Thats the beauty of football but having said that Chelsea are the best team

george lintott - 10 August 2007

football arguements aside, i agree with Oliver

If players want to bring out books that no-one reads and DVDs that no-one watches, then why not launch a mobile TV service that will disappear without trace?

Will we get to see Frank board his plane to Barcelona?

Best thing ever said about Lampard was by Joey Barton last year .. "We got beat in the Quarter-finals. I played like s*hit. Here's my book."

Someone should ask Barton for his opinion on Lampard's TV channel.

Only when Chelsea wallop Barca in the CL (again!)

I'm more interested in the rugby to be honest - how funny was tonking the Wales last weekend? Here's for more of the same on Saturday against the French.

Can't wait for RWC

Moira Moaner - 10 August 2007

Rather Frank has his own TV channel then Crouch or Rooney..

gravemaurice - 10 August 2007

Anyone who wastes 50 minutes of their life watching this of their own free will, deserves to be made to enter a pie-eating contest with the great man himself.

But Peter Crouch can do robotic dancing?!

Amanda Nottage - 10 August 2007

If he's got any footage of fiery WAG Elen's reaction to his Las Vegas shenanigans I *might* consider tuning in... he's not a patch on his dear dad anyway. No body waxes for Frank Snr, oh no.

Jeremy Lee

The worst possible TV channel would surely be an insight into Gavin Henson's life. He makes my blood boil

gravemaurice - 10 August 2007

Jeremy, is it his fake tan, his Welshness or a combination of the two that does it for you?

Jeremy Lee

Jeremy Lee - 10 August 2007

bit of both, and he's not as good at rugby as he thinks, the preening git. his girlfriend is a pain as well

gravemaurice - 10 August 2007

well, look at it this way - they're only ruining one household.

Did someone here say he is a great footballer....you are kidding right? The bloke couldn’t hit a barn door from 10 feet, unless someone got in the way to deflect the shot…

Jehan Shah - 14 August 2007

I would rather watch Autumn in NY starring Richard Gere. Actually, anything with Dick Gere in would be better. Will there really be any ground-breaking footage? Speaking of ground-breaking footage, any possibility of Joe Cole filming himself jumping out of a 2nd floor window after being caught with his pants down?
