Walkers is offering crisp lovers in the UK and Ireland £1 billion savings on 1,000s of great days out. By collecting points from special Walkers packs and visiting www.walkers.co.uk, consumers can win trips to a variety of attractions including theme parks and National Trust houses.
There is also the opportunity to use points instantly to bid for VIP trips to top sporting events, film premieres and music festivals. VIP trips can be won in a live 'auction', via a lowest unique bidding system on www.walkers.co.uk. Consumers can choose any number they wish (each bid costs them two Gary's Great Trip points), and at the close of bidding, the person with the lowest unique number wins.
The ad opens with Lineker riding a bicycle through Britain on a beautiful summer's day and Deeley, the object of his affections, sitting at the front of the bike playfully feeding him Walkers crisps. As they ride along in the sunshine, the pair pass through four locations highlighting some of the offers available with Gary's Great Trips. Cat and Lineker cycle through the gardens of the National Trust house, Bodiam Castle, then onto Thorpe Park for theme park thrills. Next the duo ride through a romantic country scene, disappearing behind some trees to emerge in a paint ball arena where Gary and Cat promptly get splattered with paint.
All seems fine as Cat sits on a bench in the beer garden of a country pub. However, while Gary shows off doing various tricks on his bicycle to impress her, a Walkers van pulls up near the couple with ‘Save a pound with every pack' written on the side. Next, the ad shows Deeley angrily left standing on the side of the road as Gary rides away with the Walkers deliveryman and his box of Walkers crisps in the front seat.
