The ad, which forms part of a £2m support package for the Unilever-owned brand, broke this week.
In the spot, created by Mother, Monkey is seen announcing to a big crowd that PG tips is the nation's favourite cuppa, before it becomes apparent that in fact Monkey is standing in his living room and the cheering crowd is Al, played by Johnny Vegas.
Adrian Adams, senior category manager for beverages at Unilever UK, said: ‘PG tips is the number one tea brand in both value and volume and our new TV ad celebrates this achievement while bringing the brand to the forefront of consumers' minds.'
