RE: P&G asks Facebook to 'like' clean water programme

I can't help feeling cynical about this - but believe me I don't want to be because it's a powerful campaign. I just can't help feeling that this is a "me too" use of Facebook and a strategy that is not entirely thought through. Having looked at the interactive nature of the campaign and the great film, I wonder why the agency responsible for the facebook strategy did not look at adding in a seeding and amplification strategy to further enhance the exposure of this campaign. It's a global issue yet feels like a local announcement. For an incredibly small fee this campaign could have been seeded globally to ensure interaction on a much larger scale. A great seeding agency such as Rubber Republic could have enhanced this activity and amplified reach and interaction tenfold.

RE: London 2012 set to be the 'biggest media event in history'

Saying an "estimated global audience of more than four billion viewers" I think is utterly misleading headline grabber and makes it sound like the vast majority of the world's population will sit glued to the Olympics. You're not alone in your view, according to nielsonwire, 4.7 billion people \(70% of the world's population they say) tuned in to watch the Beijing Olympics. I just don't buy these guesstimate figures dreamed up by event owners and sports media companies trying to attract sponsors. Something like 60 markets account for 90% of TV's owned that could reach, in theory, 75% of the global population. So to achieve 4 billion plus viewers, everyone, in every country needs to be watching the Olympics at some point. I remember FIFA's claim of over a billion viewers for the 2006 world cup was challenged as no more than 250 million. FIFA eventually climbed down on their claim, but then when the company compiling the original figures CEO is the nephew of Sepp Blatter you might expect some interesting numbers! So the Olympics - 4.7 billion+ viewers for the London games – no way.

RE: Carat lands $3 billion global GM media

And here's an even funnier exchange between Paul & George; Paul # 5 - Jan 25, 2012 12:28 PM George, clearly you have never left the US and must be an obese cheeseburger eater. As surprising as it may sound to you, guess what, your other American conglomerate Ford is also serviced by a UK company. Tough luck brother. 1 Reply GEORGE PARKER BOISE, ID # 6 - Jan 25, 2012 3:22 PM @Paul... I am British, now an american citizen... My point is... GM was baled out by the US tax payer... Ford never took a penny from the US tax payer. GM took billions... And I don't do cheeseburgers. So, Fu*k you. Cheers/George Well a point of order -Fords agency/media partners are actually Irish not British -well for \(lower ) taxation purposes they are anyway but we get the drift George.

RE: Carat lands $3 billion global GM media

here's another one; THOMAS BURKART CHICAGO, IL # 1 - Jan 24, 2012 3:07 PM WOW - huge news! Sad day for many. With Carat's relatively tiny footprint in the US... it'll be like watching a snake swallow a whale...

RE: Carat lands $3 billion global GM media

Yes but it would seem not all my countrymen feel the same way judging by some of the comments accompanying this story when it ran in Advertising Age; http://adage.com/article/agency-news/ewanick-gm-review-years-ago/232320/ GEORGE PARKER BOISE, ID # 1 - Jan 24, 2012 5:04 PM As I say on AdScam... If it's not about money, why is the company the US taxpayers baled out for billions a couple of years ago, now placing its $3billion media account with a UK group? Can we now we can look forward to Chevy being pimped by Cockney gits? Cheers/George Miles Hession Brentwood, TN # 7 - Jan 25, 2012 9:37 AM This guy is a joke. Joel, it is OUR money you are pissing away. Taking $3 billion of taxpayer money and spending it anyplace but here shows how out of touch you are. If we didn't have media companies that weren't excellent here it would be a different story. And to say that "we should have done it years ago" shows how far you are in over your head. Burger King is hiring, but that is over your talent skills. I thought when the taxpayers bailout GM that they would learn from their mistakes. You prove everyday that they didn't. Cockney Gits? Was Mark Cramner part of the pitch team?
